Sweet Karabagh ● Artsakh
The Republic of Artsakh (called Nagorno-Karabakh until 2017) is a disputed territory in neighboring Azerbaijan.
This territory was ceded to Azeris during the fall of the USSR in 1991, while inhabited by a large majority of Armenians. To the discriminations of the government of Baku, succeeded the pogroms and the massacres of Armenians. The inhabitants of the region then entered an armed struggle for their freedom. A struggle that became a war.
This conflict, considered as hidden by the international community, is still active. To the 25 000 dead since the beginning of the conflict, added each month of new losses, on both sides of the lines.
Life is hard in Artsakh. The young people called from Artsakh and Armenia go to the front to complete their 2 years of military service. They are often the first victims of the conflict.
Despite these sacrificed generations and the tears shed, hope is still there.
The hope of a peaceful future, of a freedom recognized by all.
This country is the image of its inhabitants: it suffers, but does not surrender. The kindness and incredible strength of the Karabaghtsi, who keep faith in Tomorrow, despite the torments endured, is an example of resistance and humanity.
